At Empowering Learning we have a fundamentally different approach to learning difficulties, differences. We see children as extremely talented, creative, imaginative people who are struggling to learn in the way they are being taught.
They are visual learners with exceptional mental images. Those mental images need to include words for good literacy and numbers for good numeracy. But no-one tells you this!
Please don’t think it is the teachers’ faults, they are taught nothing about mental imagery and how children and adults learn visually. They are only taught how to teach visually and that isn’t the same thing at all. It is as different as knowing what a cigarette looks like and experiencing smoking.
We work from what a child is good at, help them understand their own experience and how to use their skills to excel.
