A new perspective on Learning Difficulties: Oct 29th 2012 Rufuf Centre Hitchin

“Olive Hickmott, http://www.empoweringlearning.co.uk, has a refreshingly different perspective on learning difficulties, seeing them as a mixture of exceptional skills and often debilitating symptoms.  If you would like to learn more about the skills you can help people develop to improve many of those symptoms, do come along to her presentation.  Olive is a published author, trainer and coach working with people with a variety of learning difficulties and routinely with Dyslexia.  She describes herself as a “reformed Dyslexic”.

Read what people are saying about her:”

‘I have just listened to the You Tube videos and they provide the clearest, most succinct insight into literacy difficulties I have ever come across. And I’ve been in education for 40 years!! Great job.’ Paula Montie (Retired Headteacher, now consultant and coach)

And from Bernadette Mclean, Principle of the Helen Arkell Dyslexia Centre, who train many Assessors:
“In Bridges to Success, Olive Hickmott explains that labels such as SpLDs may well confer limiting beliefs causing failure and opting out of traditional learning. Taking “a different perspective” can allow change to happen. By positive reframing people can focus on how they can learn rather than on their deficits.”

There are only 3 seats available still in the Stocksfield Room so please let me know if you would like to attend immediately. nikki.dalrymple@valuton.org.uk
