Thursday 24th November 2011 – Empowering Learning using Energetic NLP with Olive Hickmott

Olive Hickmott has a history of helping people achieve more than they thought possible. Empowering Learning focuses on what people can do, their exceptional skills, rather than deficits, using a coaching approach to transform their confusion into successes.

Most people know someone who has been given a ‘learning difficulty’ label of one form or another. Olive takes a different view and holds the belief that ‘kid’s are super talented’ (how empowering is that for starters?)

This will be an experiential evening where Olive will explore the ‘learning difficulties’ paradigm from her wide experience whilst relating it to Energetic NLP. She’ll also be sharing some of the hints and tips on the techniques she uses in Empowering Learning – things we can all benefit from as these processes can be applied across the board of general learning too.

Olive offers remarkably quick ways to improve many learning difficulties, including Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dygraphia, ADHD, Dyspraxia, Asperger’s, Tourette’s and Autism.

  • The skills of successful learning are taught as a series of easy, simple, logical steps which build on each other to enable success
  • Struggling learners discover talents they didn’t know they had and use them  for spelling, reading, maths, concentration etc
  • We teach learners how to go from being discouraged, frustrated and angry to positive mental and emotional states, that make it easy to learn
  • young children learn naturally using their expert skills and keeping them under control
  • the same processes improve short term memory and concentration
  • When possible whole families learn together.
  • Struggling learners always have untapped, unrecognised or uncontrolled gifts to bring to the world.

Olive is a successful professional coach, international speaker and author. As a Director of the International Association for Health and Learning (IHL) She has published 4 books, and several CDs in the New Perspectives series; Seeing Spells Achieving, You too can do health, Recover your Energy and Bridges to Success—How to transform Learning Difficulties.

  1. From Henrietta, Chairperson of the Richmond NLP Group
“Thank you so much for such an inspiring evening. Many attendees had come either because they had ‘learning difficulties’ or knew of someone who has them. And, more importantly, you didn’t have to have any ‘symptoms’ to benefit from the evening. It was a very user friendly evening and applicable in so many other contexts such as health.

Olive, you showed us some really simple techniques to improve our results (and to appreciate things that we are already ding well) Everyone went away enthused about learning, with tools and techniques that they know work because they experienced or witnessed them in the room. Whilst simple, they are powerful and as NLP’ers, we can’t not pass this on to our friends, families, clients etc. Especially as the statistics and research shows that these skills are much needed to help and support individuals and groups in their learning successful learning development.

You present with passion for your subject, realising the benefits of modelling the learner’s experience then gently and inclusively work with them to empower them. It appears to be an easy and effortless relationship to see you working with a client. Olive’s experience and flexibility in working with a client is like watching magic, change happens there and then in an organic and systemic way so that it can be integrated easily with practice. It’s simple but powerful and valuable and has huge implications to our ability to learn and progress.

Please help Olive to spread her work and reach a wide an audience as possible. She’s a true pioneer!”

  2. Here’s some feedback from Joanne who’s new to the group and attended for the first time last night.

“Just wanted to drop a quick line to you both to say thank you for the invite to last nights event.
I really enjoyed meeting the local NLP group and Olive really enjoyed your session, it was so interesting and I learnt something new, which is brilliant.
Have a few NLP”er” friends back in the North West who are doing some similar work so will pass your details onto them, hope that’s ok, am sure they will be very interested in your work/findings etc. and here’s to continued success with your work. Think its brilliant!”

  3. Martina says:

Very inspiring Olive to hear you talk about your passion at the NLP Goup in Richmond. I have met you before together with Art at one of his London talks and it was good to learn a bit more about your work and your new book “Bridges to Success”. Looking forward to reading it. I love the way you simplify matters and your down to earth approach to learning difficulties, focusing on the multitude of talents within those young kids rather than the boxed in ideas of how we should “function”. This is the way to go, it’s been a pleasure meeting you and I am sure I will catch up with you again. All the best, Martina

  4. Lovely to meet you again, Martina. Look forward to hearing how you get on with Brdges to success
