As an ex-computer programmer, I recall the technique to do fuzzy matches when searching for information. To me the skill to read this is using a fuzzy match. When we know what a word looks like in our mind’s eye we can relax and will realise what the word is, for example “4U70M471C4LLY” becomes “automatically”. If we try to read it phonetically we are lost.
